Imagine IRC meets twitter meets brightkite. Thus SRC is born.

Feature List

-creating channels (twitter is a single channel, this network has many).
-twitter connectivity. follow srcservice on twitter and it will follow you. Then any #hashtags you use will send your messages to that channel, and any msg you send to a channel will tweet the msg preceded by #channelname
-inviting users to channels
-instant realtime chat using wifi or sms
-When you join a channel, you are in that channel and receive its messages until you specifically leave the channel. (in other words, keeps track of messages sent to channels you subscribed to but which you haven't received due to connectivity, etc, and delivers them all when you rejoin).
-Historic record of every channel provided online, searchable.
-Hashtags link to a community maintained wiki that describe each tag with relevant links
-Each channel has a flickr link which stores all pictures ever posted to that channel (via url text or otherwise)

UI Proposals

- scrolling alphabetical channel list like the iphone contacts with mini alpha letters on the right to instantly go to that section.
- user pictures
